Hot Tapping/ Under pressure drilling on gas

Is a method of providing a branched connection with a isolating valve to a live gas pipe without interuputing the supply, avoiding any shutdowns or purging of the gas. The branch can be attached by welding or mechanical clamp, an isolation valve is then installed and a sealed drill rig attached to the valve. The pipe is then drilled while the valve is in the open position, the drill is then withdrawn and the valve closed. The drill is then removed from the valve and a blanking flange or plug fitted. The installation is completed without leakage or loss of supply. This procedoure can be carried out on Mild steel or MDPE pipe.Branch connections from 1” to 6”.

The following pictures are of 3 live gas connections (hot tapping or under pressure drilling). A process where a branch connection is weldeded to a live gas or heating main and a isolation valve attached before a specially designed drill rig is attached to the valve. The pipe is then drilled through the valve to the maximum allowable size. This allows the branch connection to be made with out interruption to the mains supply.

Industrial Gas Pipework Installation – Chesterfield

The pictures below are from a recent project at a Chesterfield based manufacturing company. We installed approx 70m of 80mm steel gas pipework at high level and fully welded to supply 2 small furnaces which were re-located to a new location on the other side of the factory to make room for new machinary. We also installed new 200mm stainless steel flues to the furnices. The picures are insequance from the existing U40 gas meter and terminating at the furnaces.

Industrial Gas Pipework Installation – Sheffield

The pictures below are from a recent project at a Sheffield Crematorium where we made modifications to the existing 150mm gas pipework to accommodate a new flue system which was being installed. The job entailed purging the existing gas pipe work with nitrogen before the gas pipe could be cut and new flanges welded on. New pipework was then installed and re-routed to supply the Cremators. The new pipeork was then re purged with gas.
